23 January 2018

European Parliament, Brussels

At the beginning of 2018, in a rapidly changing economical and (hopefully for the better) social environment, SOLIDAR with the support of the Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament and the PES has organised its 15th edition of the Silver Rose Awards. A unique evening that highlighted achievements and promoted successful initiatives and actions of individuals or organisations who notably contributed to social justice regardless of the political environment.

From the vast number of nominations the Jury, composed of MEPs and representatives of major trade unions and civil society organisations, has selected six awardees in several categories:

Together for Social Europe
Building Learning Societies
Organising International Solidarity
Lifetime  Achievement Award
Special award by the Jury

In 2018, the Jury had to make some sensitive choices as each of awardees is active in the highly discussed field such as Women’s Rights, Workers’ protection or a highly politicized topic, the protection of Whistleblowers.
